Hello Everyone I am a new member. I'm seeking to expand and improve my kayaking. I am a WA native and still have property there which I tend to but for the moment I live in Jackson, TN.
I have canoed and kayak several years and a week ago I got my first fiberglass boat, a Phoenix slipper, which I intend to take to a White Water class in NC.
This is a slalom kayak, a bit of a challenge to control but extremely maneuverable. There is one aspect I simply do not understand. At a certain point in a turn there will be a rushing noise from the stern and the kayak will switch ends like a pickup truck on ice. Very strange. I have sort of learned to anticipate and control this but perhaps someone can tell me what is going on? Seems like the boat is defying the laws of physics since there is no propulsion on the stern to drive it around so fast.
