Congratulations Class of 2017 Basic SK Course Graduates!
| Published on Thursday, June 22, 2017
By Rhonda Schwab
We had 29 students and 18 instructors. The weekend went great weather and currents were just what we needed. We were lucky again this year to get all the gear for the students from Kayak Academy and we had a great new chef who make a splash with his cooking skills, Josh Phelps. He had two adult helpers plus this year we had 3 teenagers helping in the kitchen who did an awesome job.
Lessons on land were: Kayaks, Paddles, how to put your kayak on your car, how to wear a Dry Suit, Navigation, Wind & Weather, Flares, VHF radios, Tides & Currents.
Lesson on the water: Basic Strokes, rescues, currents, navigation, and towing.
All the students seem to have learned a lot and look forward to seeing them back on the water.
We had several new instructors this year and want to thank each one of them for their help and support with this year's class. The Clinic and Training committee is now made up of Rhonda Schwab Chair, Jose Reyes Co chair and Barry Walstead Co Chair.
Looking forward to next year's class which has already been booked for June 1, 2 and 3rd of 2018.
