We've rented the huge group camping site right in Trout Lake from Thursday through Monday! Camping costs will default to Friday-Monday, please email organizer (Reina) if you plan to arrive Thursday. Come on down, relax, and have some fun running beautiful class III-IV! Take some time to check out Hood River, local farmers markets, windsurfing, hiking, and local breweries, and water permitting, we may check out other local rivers, too... it appears that the Clackamas may be running, albeit low, this late in the season. Feel free to bring family, the site can accommodate up to 60 people and there's lots of outdoor recreation for everyone! Please register below if you plan to attend, including companions.
One primary group rule: YOU MUST HAVE FLOAT BAGS
Newer boaters welcome, we will do at least one full-length trip down the White Salmon allowing for II+ boating on the lower section. If other rivers are low as predicted, we'll likely run the class II+ section each day, but please check in with organizer closer to departure day to discuss water levels prior to the trip.
Camping fee is $5 per person per night ($15), payable to organizer. If you will be coming down Thursday night, please add an additional $5. In general, site allows one vehicle per 2 people for free, with a $9/vehicle charge if we end up with too many vehicles. (I think we'll be fine) If group size is large, this would allow a reduction of camping cost, and any excess money will go toward buying firewood and/or community food for camp or take-out, or be returned on day of event, depending on amount to be refunded.
Please note: Although I can/will lead the lower White Salmon II+ section, I AM ONLY ORGANIZING this holiday weekend trip and not "leading". I'm familiar with the main White Salmon and happy to be the first boat down, but don't know it well enough that you should follow me :-) hence, you should be comfortable on class III water for the main section.
For further questions, please feel free to email me.
NEWER BOATERS: Please contact me for information regarding the class II+ run and options.
PLEASE REGISTER BELOW so that I know how many people to plan for, and this will also change our camping costs.
