This is a 20+ year old annual Thanksgiving weekend trip to the Olympic Peninsula hosted by Bill Petty.
Rivers and camping are determined by skill of group and water flow. It is all decided on the fly based upon the sum of all conditions. Camps and rivers can not be predetermined, and the cell phone service is scarce. If you want to join the trip later in the weekend, please contact Bill in advance to discuss the approximate plans and how to find the group using voicemails.
We may paddle the Green River on Thanksgiving Day, TBD. If you have family dinner plans and can't paddle Thanksgiving, you can meet up with the group, likely in Montesano, at a time to be determined on Thursday TDay.
Camping is rustic - no creature comforts!
Bring shovel, toilet paper, water, and a minimum of one bundle of campfire wood, please! Umbrellas are particularly handy on the OP.
Stern float bags are required. Bow float bags are strongly recommended and preferred. Please bring a throw rope!
Bill will provide a main course for dinner on Saturday, please bring a dish to share.
Potential rivers include Humptulips, Matheny Creek, Wynoochee, Sol Duc, NF Calawha, Dungeness, Dosewallips, Elwha - in no particular order. Let's paddle!
**Solid class III boating skills are advised. Please contact Bill Petty with questions. 425.422.3776
