Canoeing for Kayakers
When was the last time you put your butt in a canoe? It was probably a while ago, and probably before you learned how to actually use that stick in your hand. WKC has teamed with Steve Jones from Cascade PaddleSports for a course geared to the kayaker who wants to apply those strokes with a single blade and the ability to actually move around in the boat, both as a solo paddler and as work as a team in a tandem. Canoeing is great fun and this course will give you the foundations whether your interest is purely to gain knowledge, family outings, extended flatwater camping trips, or whitewater. This is also a great way to gain basic canoeing knowledge for those looking to pursue a BCU 2 star or ACA canoeing award.
Plan for a full day on flat water. Students should have working knowledge of basic kayaking strokes and rescues. Canoes/paddles are included in price upon request but use of your own equipment is encouraged, if available.
Course fee: $75.
Location: Enatai Boat House, Lake Washington
Date: Sunday March 22nd, 9:30 am.
