WKC INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

WKC Incident management, Eddies and currents, Rescues and towing clinic.

June 6, & 7, 2015 CORNET Bay Environment Learning Center

(Located at the scenic Deception Pass State Park)
Join us for a weekend of FUN and ADVENTURE as you
improve your skills on the water!
The fee for the 2  day course is $125. This includes training and instruction, accommodations for two (2) nights (Friday and Saturday) and meals (What a bargain!!).

What is an incident?  Anything that needs urgent attention.  Could be as simple as needing to take a shore break, or as major as a heart attack.  What could go wrong?  What can you do about it?

The most common incidents are the ones you want to have necessary training and equipment for:  Examples include; hypothermia, cuts, dry suit tears, broken paddles, capsizes, sea sickness, broken boats, bad weather, and so forth …

Bowman Bay on Saturday for incident management, towing, and rescue instruction.

Coronet Bay (and Canoe pass + Strawberry Island) on Sunday for eddies and currents instruction with associated  rescues and towing.

Requirements:  Must have taken a basic course in sea kayaking and have the required equipment.  Instructor permission is required.

This is a fairly intensive two-day clinic, and is intimidating for a lot of newer paddlers.  Please don’t be intimidated!   If you have paddled on at least 5 day trips, feel comfortable performing a wet exit, and feel comfortable in your boat, then you should enjoy this clinic.   We will crawl, before we walk, before we run.  Two notes; 1) You will be in the water a lot, and 2) Everyone has fun.

Instructors:  Michael Everett and Alison Reinbold;
