Last year I missed out on an opportunity to go watch the North Fork Championships and play at Kelly's Whitewater Park in Cascade Idaho.  This year I want to make this happen, I can definitely go by myself and have fun, but it would much more of a hoot to share this with paddling friends.  Here's the skinny..

 

North Fork Championships takes place on the NF Payette, and brings out the best paddlers in the world on class V/V+ whitewater.  The races to watch are..

These races are all set in the afternoon, so it gives us a chance to play at Kelly's Whitewater Park in the morning and then drive about 20-30 minutes to the race site and hang out for the afternoon and watch some world class paddling.

 

Kelly's Whitewater Park is located in Cascade ID, we plan to camp at Lake Cascade State Park about 2 miles from Kelly's, if you want to camp with us, you need to let me know right away.  Kelly's offers a variety of surf / play features, ranging from big to small surf and everything in between.  Each feature also has a recovery pool downriver .  Kelly's also offers picnic areas, sand volleyball court, bocce ball court, and is free of charge, donations recommended.

 

Near Cascade there is also Gold Fork Hot Springs we can visit one afternoon to soak our soar muscles.
