Exchange student from Switzerland seeking WW kayki...
10/13/2014 1:08 PM
Hello WW paddlers,
This is one of the more unusual requests I get via the website contact page:
On behalf of family friends, I am inquiring about whether any of your members would be interested in doing a high-schooler-aged host / exchange with a Swiss family (living in the Basel area of Switzerland).
Mariolena is 16 and will be finishing up her school work in May, 2015. She has been competing (and finishing WELL) at the Junior National Kayaking level (white water) in Switzerland for at least the past 6 years. She is interested in finding a family in our area (ideally with a teen-aged daughter also interested in river kayaking) willing to host her for next summer. Her family is open to have a reciprocal exchange to Switzerland as well.
I am a native Oregonian living on the Sandy river ... but I have no experience with river kayaking so I am reaching out to those of you with a passion similar to Mariolena's. I know that your club has a strong reputation in the region so I wanted to start here for possible ideas. Please feel free to pass along any suggested contacts -- this is my first reach out for help!
