Lummi Island Circumnavigation

This is my favorite day trip! Don't be discouraged by its length, with the current ride, you can do it!  At the end there is an enormous sense of accomplishment.  There are many rewards along the way.  Lummi island has a very remote feel, a stunning coast, and towering peak.  Views are spectacular in all directions.    I

  
We will launch from Goosebury point at 8:30 to catch the ebb through Hale passage.  Rather quickly we'll be at the DNR campsite near the south tip for our first break.  Then we will lunch on Lummi Rocks, one of the best viewpoints in all the San Juans.  After lunch we will hop on the Rosario Strait expressway.  
  
 
This trip is 19 nm but feels more like 15.  Crossings are less than a mile.  Fetches are very long and conditions can get choppy with a combination of wind and current, so the full circumnavigation will be weather-dependent.
